As we end our 2026 evening sessions, Walton on Thames has been a great location for us while avoiding the areas with. Blue-green algae.
Thank you to everyone for your flexibility both leaders and young people (not to forget parents ferrying!) thanks especially to @TimHampton for preparing and towing the trailer for the off-site location
2026 has been a great season with a difficult end but still enjoyable.
We hope, still to arrange some winter sessions. Roll on 2027 season!
Thank you to everyone who attended and for your flexibility in adapting to the temporary changes to our normal paddling programme. The alternative venue is working very well, allowing us to get back on the water safely whilst avoiding the areas currently affected by Blue-Green Algae.
The situation on our usual stretch of the River Thames has had many reports that things are returning to some normality and some clubs and river users are operating fully.
There is however, still some signs of blue-green algae and we cannot, with the safety of our young people in mind return to our normal operations yet. So, we will again be operating from a location upstream of the affected area.
This Wednesday will be our last session of the 2026 season and we really hope to see as many young people as possible to make our last night a happily memorable one.

PADDLERS ADVICE
All paddlers should:
1. Use footwear to avoid cutting feet (NO Crocs or Flip-Flops!).
2. Cover all scratches or cuts on exposed parts of the body with waterproof plasters.
3. Avoid immersion in stagnant or slow moving water.
4. Wash or shower after immersion or paddling generally.
