Water Activities Advisor

The development of Scouting for young people through challenging and safe activities is an identified way of growing our Movement. Royal Kingston District have appointed Chris Hampton to this role.

This is a reactive role with the main function being to advise, mainly on technical issues as they arise, and to keep a watch on factors external to Scouting that will affect the activity within Scouting.

The role of a Water Activities Adviser requires an in depth technical knowledge and, where appropriate, experience of the particular activity. To ensure competence the role requires a certain level of activity qualification.

Chris is a BCU Level 4 Kayak coach and Level 2 Canoe Coach with experience of working at outdoor centres in the UK and Europe and complements this role with running the district’s Kingston Scouts Canoe Club.
He also holds an Assessor status for Foundation Safety and Rescue Training and Aquatic 1staid and is qualified to coach on whitewater of all levels.

Chris is also the County assessor for Kayaking, Canoeing and traditional rafting and is a county boat inspector.
