Coaches/ Scout Permits
Have you thought about applying for or renewing your permits?
The following information may assist with your application for a Kayak or Canoe Adventurous Activity Permit:
- Permits are required to take Scouts on the water where it is class B or above (although we encourage for safety to include class C)
- Applicants will need to demonstrate skills to BCU 2 star or above
- Applicants will need to demonstrate safety and rescues to BCU FSRT standards (with strong preference to holding BCU Foundation Safety and Rescue)
- Links to the BCU 2 star awards and FSRT as follows:
- 2 star: http://www.canoe-england.org.uk/media/pdf/Two%20Star%20Syllabus.pdf
- FSRT: http://www.canoe-england.org.uk/tests-i-awards/safety-training-courses/foundation-safety-and-rescue/
Assuming the applicant can demonstrate or hold the above, complete the application form for an Adventurous Activity Permit
http://scouts.org.uk/activitypermits and post details to the County Canoeing Advisor (along with log book if you have one). An assessor will contact you accordingly to meet and/or complete initial paperwork.
If you do not have the above qualifications but are interested in working towards a permit, why not book on to one of our summer courses or river trips to assist with progression. For further details:
